We’re Now an Active Partner in International Council on Active Aging

Among the services provided is an industry-leading publication, the Journal on Active Aging. The Council offers online education-certificate courses, webinars, virtual summits, career development tools, as well as industry and scientific research, and white papers.

Those resources will support the engaging, active retirement living among senior residents at Givens Highland Farms, recognized among the best by national rankings. Located within easy driving distance to Asheville, residents here enjoy volunteering, joining interest groups, maintaining a community garden, and greeting neighbors as they walk their dogs on campus. The beautiful surroundings, casual atmosphere, and genuine neighborhood camaraderie are among the best amenities.

The Council has two major campaigns to promote the mission of encouraging active aging as a solution to improving the quality of life for older adults: Active Aging Week and Changing the Way We Age. Both campaigns align with Givens Communities mission and uphold our core values.

Active Aging Week is held during the last week of September as an opportunity to promote and publicize the efforts of motivated organizations to reach older adults with the key messages of staying active, healthy, and engaged.

The Changing the Way We Age Campaign helps spread the message from a public stage through volunteers who help transform the active-aging concept into reality – inspiring their peers and individuals of all ages to live life to the fullest, regardless of circumstances that society might consider impediments to active aging. They play a key role in the campaign as educators and role models in their local communities.
