What type of community is Givens Highland Farms?

We are a non-profit Life Plan/Continuing Care Retirement Community (LP/CCRC), with a Type C Fee-for-Service Healthcare contract. This means we offer vibrant, active independent living with the assurance of the full spectrum of healthcare with fee-for-service.

We offer three different types of Entrance Fees depending on your choice of residence. The three plans include a 0% Refund (after the 48th month of occupancy); a 50% Refund (after the 23rd month of occupancy); or 90% Refund (after the 3rd month of occupancy).

Cost Considerations

Givens Highland Farms has a Fitch rating of A-minus. We have a strong capacity for meeting our financial commitments.

Our community opened in 1971. Asheville-based Givens Communities purchased Highland Farms in December 2012.

We offer extensive health services for Skilled Nursing, Short-term Rehab, and Memory Care. Our independent living residents can receive Home Care services (for an additional fee). Plus, we offer an on-campus Wellness Clinic twice a week.

A weekly housekeeping visit is included in the monthly fee. Additional services are provided for an additional cost, including window washing, twice a year, and carpet cleaning as needed.

We offer the main Dining Room for sit-down service and a deli for grab-and-go items. Both venues serve beer and wine. The typical attire for our Dining Room is casual, "come as you are." Residents receive a meal plan with a monthly amount and a declining balance. Extra meals can be purchased for an additional cost, and unused meal credits can be carried over for up to two months.

Select homes have fireplaces. Most of our residences have patios or balconies, depending on the location. Some homes have porches too.

Yes, Givens Highland Farms allows two pets per accommodation. We welcome pets, but we do have requirements for maximum weight, vaccination status, and licensing according to the local Black Mountain ordinances. Providing pet owners are in compliance with those regulations, we are very welcoming of our four-legged residents. We also have a dog park on campus.

Standard appliances are included and maintained by our staff. We provide all utilities, including cable, landline telephone, and private wireless internet.
