As 2021 comes to a close, we reflect with gratitude on our residents’ uncommon resilience during unprecedented times. Our community responded with grace and understanding when we had to reinstate the safety measures necessary to be healthy throughout the year.
In appreciation, Givens Highland Farms is pleased to give each of our residents the “2021 Always Be Thankful” Carolina Wren Christmas ornament. Each year, Givens Communities creates a unique holiday ornament that subtly reflects the past year. This year’s design reminds us that there is so much to be grateful for despite the ongoing pandemic.
The ornament was collaboratively designed with inspiration from Sara Cogswell, daughter and caregiver of her 99-year-old father, who resided at Givens Highland Farms until his recent passing. Both Sara and her father were involved in the brainstorming for the Carolina Wren design. This raucous and twitchy little bird sings a beautiful song, and the male and female often sing duets when they are not fussing. Other collaborators included Sarah Maupin, the Carolina Blue Design Group’s graphic designer, and Johnathan Stamey of Brevard Laser, who provided custom cutting and engraving.
Previously, the annual ornament was given in gratitude exclusively to those who made a “Gift of Care” donation. This year, all residents will receive an ornament to celebrate and appreciate our lives at Givens Communities.
We are still accepting contributions to the annual “Gift of Care” supporting the Resident Assistance Ministry. Every penny donated goes to help residents. All “Gift of Care” donations provide funds for the MANNA Market and support the Community Share program. Your gift to this vital ministry helps assure that no one carries their burdens alone.

Thank you for demonstrating the spirit of the season throughout the year.
