Givens Home First is proud to announce the expansion of its Aging in Place program, now available to serve Western North Carolina counties, including Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Transylvania, Madison, and surrounding areas. This program is dedicated to helping individuals remain safe, healthy, and comfortable in their homes through professional home safety assessments and tailored modifications.

Givens Home First is a Home and Community Based Services program under Givens Communities, dedicated to enhancing the well-being and independence of older adults through personalized care, innovative home modifications, and meaningful community support. In addition to the Aging in Place program, the organization operates a licensed home care agency serving residents of Givens Estates and Givens Highland Farms.

The services are provided by Certified Aging in Place Specialists, trained through the National Association of Home Builders. Julie Moses, a seasoned occupational therapy assistant with more than 20 years of experience, led over 240 home modifications in 2024 alone. Her approach emphasizes tailored evaluations that empower individuals and families to plan for long-term safety and independence.

David Hock, a CAPS-certified technician, skillfully brings these recommendations to life. His expertise includes the installation of custom railings, ramps, and bidets, along with incorporating cutting-edge technology like remote lighting solutions. Together, Moses and Hock are transforming homes across the region into safer, more accessible spaces.

“Our Aging in Place program is about so much more than home modifications,” said Jessie Bosshard, Executive Director of Givens Home First. “It’s about empowering people to continue living their lives fully and comfortably in the places they call home. Expanding our reach means we can make an even greater impact across Western North Carolina, and we couldn’t be more excited to serve our neighboring communities.”

The program is a reflection of Givens Home First’s commitment to supporting older adults as they age with dignity and grace in the comfort of their homes.

Community organizations, housing providers, and local leaders are encouraged to explore potential partnerships to help bring these services to more individuals.
