Residents living with Parkinson’s disease at Givens Highland Farms will soon have access to an innovative wellness program designed specifically to help them stay active, build confidence, and improve quality of life, thanks to funding provided by the Givens Foundation.
Beginning in December 2026, Givens Highland Farms will launch an official Rock Steady Boxing affiliate program for residents with Parkinson’s disease. The nationally recognized, non-contact fitness program uses boxing-inspired exercises, strength training, balance work, and agility drills to help participants manage symptoms and maintain independence.
While the name may sound intimidating, no boxing experience is required, and participants never spar or get hit. Instead, the program focuses on improving coordination, mobility, endurance, and overall fitness in a supportive environment where Parkinson’s is the only opponent.
The launch of Rock Steady Boxing at Givens Highland Farms was made possible through funding from the Givens Foundation’s Life Enrichment Fund. Made possible by generous donors, the Foundation invests in programs and services that enhance residents’ well-being and create meaningful opportunities for older adults to thrive across Givens communities.
“Through philanthropy, we are able to bring specialized programs like Rock Steady Boxing directly to our residents,” said Olive Wilbur, Wellness Specialist and certified Rock Steady Boxing coach. “This program empowers people living with Parkinson’s to challenge themselves, celebrate progress, and connect with others facing similar experiences.”

Wilbur will lead the classes and tailor exercises to meet participants where they are, adapting activities for individuals at every stage of Parkinson’s disease. Caregivers are also welcome to attend and observe.
The addition of Rock Steady Boxing reflects Givens Communities’ commitment to whole-person wellness and highlights the important role philanthropy plays in expanding programs that support residents’ physical, emotional, and social health.
At Givens Highland Farms, this new offering is more than an exercise class. It is an opportunity for residents living with Parkinson’s to build strength, gain confidence, and find encouragement alongside their peers.
