To ensure seamless continuation of leadership duties at Givens Highland Farms in Black Mountain, Givens Communities Chief Operating Officer Scott Farkas announced today that Matt Sharpe will be its new executive director, beginning August 4.
Sharpe currently is executive director of Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community in Asheville. He will take over the role now held by Ken Kramer, who in turn will take the helm at Aldersgate United Methodist Retirement Community in Charlotte.
“Matt shares our mission and values, and brings decades of experience in senior living management,” said Farkas. “He will uphold our commitment to excellence in resident care, an enviable workplace, and unwavering dedication to community engagement.”
Sharpe has a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management from UNC Asheville, an MBA from Western Carolina University, and a State Nursing Home Administrator License. He has been with Deerfield since 2004 and is responsible for Wellbeing Services, Health Services, and serves as liaison to the Residents’ Council. He is a proven leader in resource management, including day-to-day operations, financial stewardship, project planning and innovations, and strategic marketing, contributing to Deerfield’s success.
The timing means there will not be an empty office or prolonged candidate search, Farkas said, with a leadership transition able to take place without delay.
