Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is January 18
We encourage our community of residents, team members, family, and friends to join us in recognizing Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 18th. We remember this inspiring civil rights activist who gave his life to the vision of equality and justice for all. MLK Day is the only holiday designated as a national day of service encouraging Americans to volunteer to improve their communities while furthering the legacy of Dr. King. This year, we hope you will join us in honoring Dr. King by getting involved in support of equality and social justice. At Givens Communities, we have been working with a local consultant over the past year and a half to provide leadership training to our team members, to review our policies and procedures, to coordinate a larger training for all team members, and to provide opportunities for education and dialogue with our residents. Also, we continue to be a gold level sponsor for the Asheville MLK Association and Swannanoa Valley MLK Breakfast.
We are reminded by Dr. King that: “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” We hope you will join us in breaking the silence one voice at a time.
