At Givens Communities, fostering meaningful connection, lifelong learning, and joyful engagement is an important part of supporting healthy aging. That’s why Givens Communities is proud to sponsor the Asheville Senior Chorus, a vibrant community choir that has been enriching lives through music and friendship for more than two decades.
The Asheville Senior Chorus is a program of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNC Asheville and serves as a welcoming space for older adults who share a love of music and community. Throughout the year, the chorus presents Fall, Spring, and Holiday concerts, along with additional performances that bring music and inspiration to audiences across the region.
Known for its diverse repertoire, the Asheville Senior Chorus performs music that spans generations and genres, from the timeless works of Bach to beloved classics from the Beatles and beyond. Since its founding, the organization has maintained a strong commitment to community engagement, participating in local events, ceremonies, and performances throughout Asheville and neighboring communities including Woodfin, Weaverville, Fairview, Biltmore, Candler, North Asheville, and West Asheville.
The chorus prides itself on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where all are encouraged to participate. There are no auditions, no pressure, and no previous experience required. Members discover more than beautiful music. They find friendship, purpose, and a strong sense of belonging through shared experiences and a passion for singing. Whether someone is a lifelong vocalist or exploring music for the first time, the Asheville Senior Chorus offers opportunities to perform, learn new musical styles, and connect with others in a supportive community.
